Applications Now Being Accepted for Coveted Presentation Slots at Capital Connection 2007

Venture Capital Co-Chairs Announced for Nation’s Most Prominent Annual Venture Fair - May 29-30

McLean, VA—February 14, 2007 - The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA) today announced that applications are currently being accepted from companies to present at the Capital Connection 2007 venture fair being held May 29-30, 2007 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel in Baltimore, MD. East coast technology companies seeking capital are encouraged to submit their applications now to the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association via the organization's web site www.mava.org for consideration. Companies across multiple technology sectors and stages of funding and development are encouraged to apply for one of the highly sought-after presentation slots.

Capital Connection 2007 is being co-chaired by prominent venture capitalists Tim Meyers of Updata Partners, Don Rainey of Intersouth Capital and Joe Zell of Grotech Capital Group. Developed by venture capitalists for venture capitalists, MAVA's Capital Connection event provides multiple venues for the interaction of venture investors, professional services providers and entrepreneurs.

The association also announced that a live webinar, "Calling All Entrepreneurs: VCs Answer Your Questions about Capital Connection", hosted by venture capitalists Mark Levine, Managing Director of Core Capital Partners, and Andrea Kaufman, General Partner of Novak Biddle Venture Partners, will be held on March 9, 2007 at 2PM. Entrepreneurs considering applying for a presentation slot are encouraged to attend by registering online, http://readycommconf.com/midatlantic/events.php . Participants in the webinar will learn first-hand from venture experts what makes for a successful application, how to stand out from the rest of the crowd, and the unique reasons that participation in Capital Connection can benefit a growing company.

"Capital Connection has enjoyed such vitality and success over the course of its eighteen year history due in large part to its unique forum for showcasing high-quality entrepreneurs and their innovative emerging technology companies", said Julia Spicer, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. "Being centrally located in the mid-Atlantic, we have the ideal location for companies to grow and flourish with more than 200 venture capital and private equity funds calling the mid-Atlantic region home."

To foster entrepreneurship, MAVA provides value to all companies that submit an application. Applications will be reviewed by a seasoned team of veteran venture capital investors; applicants will enjoy numerous benefits, including:

  • No application fee required for submission of an application;
  • The fair's unique pre-selection Entrepreneur & VC Networking Reception to be held in Washington, DC. CEOs of companies that submit their application by April 4 are invited to this exclusive event that provides exceptional access to the region's top investors;
  • Invitations to MAVA programs with investors throughout the year.

Among the many benefits an entrepreneur will experience once selected to present at Capital Connection, one of the nation's most prominent venture fairs, include:

  • Unparalleled opportunities to meet and collaborate with potential partners including merger and acquisition prospects, strategic/alliance partnerships and additional sources for critical capital;
  • Expert counsel in fundraising strategy;
  • Invaluable access to network with venture capitalists, representing in excess of $90 billion under management, as well as later-stage sources of capital;
  • Unique forum to establish their companies as leaders in their sector by elevating company profile to important audience of potential investors, partners and collaborators.

For more than twenty years, MAVA has helped shape the region's entrepreneurial economy, generating more than $2.6 billion of venture investments for participating companies via their highly regarded venture fairs. Some of the region's biggest success stories—AOL, UUNet, and Blackboard—have presented at the association's annual fairs.
