Jody Glidden joined Research In Motion Ltd. in early 2009, shortly after the BlackBerry maker bought his company, Chalk Media Corp., for $30-million.
At RIM, Mr. Glidden eventually reported directly to former co-chief executive Jim Balsillie. But by December 2011, he was ready to scratch his entrepreneurial itch again.
Much has changed at RIM in the year since his departure: Mr. Balsillie is no longer chief executive and the company’s stock price and reputation have continued to decline. On the other hand, Mr. Glidden’s prospects are rising. His startup, IntroHive Inc., is powered by a number of former RIM employees, and is comfortably backed, in part, by former RIM executives.
Fredericton, N.B.-based IntroHive has developed data-mining software that helps large companies develop new sales contacts.
