Leading Innovator and Successful Serial Entrepreneur, Kevin Ryan Shares
Industry Insights and Lessons Learned
Capital Connection 2012 kicks off on May 23 with the opening keynote from trailblazing serial entrepreneur, Kevin P. Ryan. Sharing his experience and insights from the launch of five companies in four years, the former CEO of DoubleClick will offer his views on game-changing technologies that are reshaping multiple industries. Ryan, Founder and CEO of Gilt Groupe, will keynote the opening session of Capital Connection’12 on Wednesday, May 23 at 5:00 p.m.
Widely-recognized as one of the nation’s leading industry innovators, Ryan launched Gilt Groupe in 2007 as an invitation-only e-commerce site of highly coveted women’s apparel and accessories offered at insider prices. This innovative e-commerce model re-invented the consumer online purchasing experience and, today, Gilt Groupe serves more than three million members. Ryan leveraged the popularity of the Gilt Groupe platform to serve as the launching pad for several business lines catering to home, children, men’s apparel and gear (GiltMAN), vacation travel (Jetsetter), local services and experiences (Gilt City) and Gilt Japan, the leading flash-sale site in Japan.
Beyond the Gilt Groupe, Ryan is also distinguished for his groundbreaking technology achievements in industry verticals including online advertising, financial media and data management. His entrepreneurial vision was fostered during his nine years as President and later Chief Executive of DoubleClick. Ryan succeeded in growing DoubleClick from a 20-person start-up to a global industry leader with more than 1500 employees. DoubleClick was sold to a private equity firm in 2005, and later acquired by Google in 2008. He founded the New York-based companies Business Insider, 10gen/MongoDB. Ryan currently serves as Chairman of Business Insider and 10gen/MongoDB.
“With the spotlight squarely on promoting entrepreneurs, across all stages of growth and industry sectors, hearing from an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur will set the stage for a content-rich, conference agenda that should not be missed,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association. “The Kevin Ryan success story of an entrepreneur who has built five companies in four years and sold two will be an explosive motivator for technology-driven entrepreneurs engaged in accelerated company-building and seasoned executives looking to take their established firms to another level.”
