CEO Successes Highlight the Strength of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Region
The Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA), representing the complete spectrum of private capital investors, company-builders and entrepreneurs, hosted its annual holiday event today with a celebration of the successful high growth companies at the center of its ecosystem. The festive luncheon program placed a spotlight on four of MAVA’s Sterling Company CEOs and a dozen of the companies that presented at MAVA’s nationally-recognized TechBUZZ and Capital Connection events in May 2012.
Chief Executives from MAVA’s Sterling Companies – Alarm.com, Eloqua, Primatics Financial and ScienceLogic – took the stage to highlight key milestones that have contributed to their continued success and robust growth during this year. During Capital Connection’12, 25 successful businesses were singled out as market maker companies with a special “Sterling Company” award. The companies were selected unanimously for stellar performance by some of the country’s top private investors.
“It’s an honor to be speaking to a room full of entrepreneurs at the MAVA Annual Holiday Luncheon & CEO Celebration,” said Dave Link, Chairman of ScienceLogic, Inc. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share our vision and highlight a few keys to ScienceLogic’s momentum this year and learn more about the successes my friends at Alarm.com, Eloqua and Primatics Financial have attained.”
“This recognition validates our belief that the right mix of innovation and entrepreneurial spirit can help a company thrive even in a time of great economic uncertainty,” said Peter Fitzsimmons, CEO of Primatics Financial. “We are honored to be listed among our fellow high growth companies in the Mid-Atlantic area who continue to strive to exceed expectations in the markets they serve.”
The tribute to CEOs continued with recognition of nearly a dozen of the companies that presented at TechBUZZ and Capital Connection’12. Senior executives from many of these companies were in attendance and were recognized for their achievements. Each representative shared a quick and snappy summary of their company’s progress since their participation in MAVA’s flagship, visibility-raising showcase of the hottest and most promising firms in May and shared recent accomplishments. The representatives of Capital Connection’12 and TechBUZZ presenting companies included:
- Barrel of Jobs
- High Street Partners
- Higher Logic
- HitchRides (formerly RideLeads)
- Social Toaster
- True Influence
The capacity crowd also heard about some of the major highlights and evolution in the industry during 2012 from the investor perspective. Harry Weller, General Partner at New Enterprise Associates, provided “The Year in Review.”
“MAVA and its members are committed to supporting high-tech, high-growth companies across all stages of growth and across industry sectors. Our Annual Holiday event was the perfect opportunity to bring together our community of companies, investors and advisors for a ‘CEO Celebration’ and to close out a year marked with significant accomplishment. Building a successful enterprise is difficult work, and our community strives to support these firms throughout their growth. Today, we take a moment to celebrate those who have demonstrated achievements and applaud their efforts,” said Julia Spicer, Executive Director of MAVA.
