POINTCLICKSWITCH.COM LAUNCHES IN WASHINGTON D.C. FOR RESIDENTS LOOKING TO SAVE MONEY THIS SUMMER ON PEPCO BILLS

05/15/2013
District of Columbia (DC) residents now have a website to compare the most competitive electricity supply offers in the marketplace.  Baltimore based tech startup PointClickSwitch.com offers residents the ability to compare offers and enroll with the energy supplier of their choice and in most instances, saving customers over the utility (Pepco).  “The current process to shop for electric suppliers involve visiting each supplier’s website or making calls to each supplier” states CEO and Co-Founder Phil Croskey.  “We wanted to streamline the process to save people not only time but money”.

According to the DC Public Service Commission, as of March 2013, 35,000 or 15% of DC residents have switched electricity suppliers. “Even those customers that have switched suppliers can use PointClickSwitch to compare rates when their existing contract comes up for renewal” adds Croskey. There is no cost to use the site and the customer’s new lower rate typically takes place the next billing cycle. Pepco would still handle power outages, and residents bills would still come from Pepco.

PointClickSwitch.com was created to make shopping for an electricity supplier easier.  “Consider us the Expedia.com of energy choice” says Croskey.
