Chevy Chase-Based NEA Co-Leads $6.75 Million Round for GraphLab

New Enterprise Associates (NEA), the Chevy Chase-based venture capital firm, said on Tuesday it has co-led a new $6.75 million round of funding for Seattle-based GraphLab, which is developing a commercial product to apply advanced machine learning to massive graph datasets. Madrona Venture Group also co-led the company's first round. GraphLab was founded by Carlos Guestrin, who began the GraphLab open-source project five years ago. The original open source framework is still used millions of times a day to deliver recommendations through popular consumer services. Greg Papadopoulos of NEA will join the company's board of directors, and NEA's Forest Baskett will become a board observer.
